SHOULD I ADD LENS TO MY PRACTICE?

Do I need a QEEG to use the LENS?

The LENS System includes the LENS Mapping system (non-qEEG)

which is simpler, less expensive, and less time consuming than

purchasing qEEG mapping equipment and data bases and learning

to use them.  The LENS mapping precisely answers the questions

about where to place the EEG sensors, and in what sequence for

maximum efficacy, thus directing the provider.  Other OchsLabs tools

help the Practitioner estimate dosage settings, and provide context

for the therapist and patient in evaluating the client's progress

throughout the course of the LENS therapy.

How does the LENS compare to other

neurofeedback/biofeedback systems?

Biofeedback systems are used to train the brain to behave in a

certain way utilizing operant conditioning, not unlike teaching a

dog to sit by repetition. Training the brain requires many sessions

that can last from 20-60 minutes or more, several times a week

for months. The LENS utilizes a system based upon resetting the

brain’s own neural-connectivity, which works faster and requires

much less session time than attempting to train a dysfunctional

brain pattern into a more functional brain pattern.

How do I explain the LENS to clients/patients?

The LENS resets the neural-connectivity of the brain. It allows the

brain to communicate better with itself, and in doing so the brain

optimizes it’s own functioning.

What is the LENS?

The LENS is a system that utilizes advanced technology software to track brainwaves in real time, and uses this information to help the brain reset it’s neural-connectivity. It can be used to optimize the functioning of the brain and the rest of the Central Nervous System.

Who can benefit from the LENS?

The LENS may be used with patients who suffer from concussive injuries, TBI (traumatic brain injury), anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Stroke, Asperger’s, explosiveness, ADD/ADHD, Bi-Polar Disorder, MS, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, lack of motivation, seizures, headaches, migraines, substance abuse/addiction, Cerebral Palsy, PDD, etc.

How effective is the LENS?

It is estimated that the LENS has been used with over 750,000 people, in over 4 million sessions. The LENS can help diminish or resolve symptoms in less than half the number of sessions compared to other neurofeedback systems. For example: mild to moderate TBI: 6 sessions, uncomplicated PTSD: 3 sessions.

How does the LENS work?

The LENS works by disrupting the maladaptive patterns, or looping mechanisms, that the brain has acquired in response to acute conditions such as birth trauma, concussion resulting from a sports accident, addiction, anoxic event, etc. The LENS encourages the brain to release these inhibitive patterns, and adapt a higher functioning neural circuitry.

What training do I need?

The Foundational Training for the LENS is a 3-day workshop, usually held over a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You will be taught the basic concepts of the LENS, patient assessment, and how to use the software to administer a session. After the Foundations Training, you may use the LENS in your practice to help patients. We offer Intermediate and other trainings and seminars, as well, when you are ready to learn even more about the use and application of this technology!

Does insurance cover LENS sessions?

The answer to this question depends upon your credentials. The LENS is considered biofeedback, and whether insurance covers sessions depends upon the patient's policy.

Can non-licensed people provide LENS sessions?

The FDA regulates biofeedback/neurofeedback systems here in the US, and as such, the LENS system may be sold only to licensed providers whose Scope of Practice includes biofeedback. However, a licensed professional may have a trained LENS technician administer LENS sessions under her or his license and oversight. In this case, the technician has attended the LENS Foundations Training (trained in the use of the LENS), and works under the license of the professional. A non-licensed person can not use the LENS independent of a licensed professional.
